Should You Exercise On An Empty Stomach?

If you workout first thing in the morning, you probably do it before eating a full breakfast.

There’s been an ongoing debate about whether it’s necessary to fuel up before going for that run or hitting the gym. Many studies say fasting before a workout helps you burn fat, while others suggest there’s some risk involved.

However there is new evidence that an empty stomach makes a more efficient workout. There are some downsides, so should you exercise hungry or lightly fed?

CAN EXERCISING HUNGRY HELP TO BURN MORE FAT?

The answer seems to be that hungry workouts really can be more efficient.  ‘Training fasted’ (as opposed to ‘training fed’) seems to make the body burn more of its fat stores. If you ‘train fed’, carbohydrate is available as glucose in the blood and the body turns to that instead. Some small-scale studies are bearing out this theory.

There is even evidence that ‘training fasted’ can make your body more efficient for future ‘training fed’ sessions. These are the times when your body needs to make use of carbohydrate. Inability to do this efficiently can bring that ‘runners wall’ much closer, or give you a sudden dip in the middle of your weights or cardio session.

High Intensity Or Long Duration Exercise (>2 hours)

This type of exercise (HIIT, heavy weight lifting, crossfit) will use up stored carbohydrates and creatine phosphate. It will be hard to do if you do not eat before hand, and if you are very low in carbohydrates, you may use up protein / muscle as fuel (which you don’t really want).

If you do this type of exercise first thing in the morning, I would recommend eating something small and high in carbohydrates (such as fruit) prior to this workout. If you are exercising in the afternoon, I would recommend eating something high in carbohydrates and moderate in protein around 2 hours before. Some examples include yoghurt and berries, healthy sports bar or a piece of toast with eggs.

SO Is it Bad to Exercise on an Empty Stomach?

It can be a hotly debated topic: is it better to exercise on an empty stomach, or is not eating anything at all before a workout just setting yourself up for a lackluster performance?

Hence, if you perform any exercise, ensure that you grab some food before you do some exercise. And as always, consult your doctor first before you do any exercise or fitness program.

5 Exercises That Will Build Up Your Glutes, Improve Your Posture And Burn Fat

People who lead sedentary lifestyles often have issues with their glutes, as they can become atrophied and sore. These muscles actually play an essential role in optimizing the strength of the legs, stabilize the pelvis, and support the spine.

Therefore, their strengthening will significantly improve posture and boost your body strength.  By strengthening the glutes, you will be able to perform high-intensity activities and exercises, and they will also be extremely helpful for various sports and running.

Moreover, the strengthened glutes will prevent injuries. Not only will your body will be strong, your buttocks will be firm. You can gain all these benefits in only 15 minutes of your time, a few days a week.

The following 5 exercises are the best ones to help you build up the gluteus minimus, gluteus medius, and gluteus maximus.

1.Weighted Bridge

Start in a lying position, with the knees bent, and the feet planted firmly on the floor. The feet should be in a parallel position to the knees, a bit more than a hip’s width.

Then, place a light dumbbell on the hips and raise them off the floor, while tightening the abs, thighs, and glutes. If you are a beginner, try it without the dumbbell at first. Then, lower down to the initial position, while the hips are still a bit above the floor. Repeat this 15 times in 3 sets.

2.Lunges

Start in a standing position, with the legs at hip’s width. Then, step forward with one leg and you should bend the knee at 90 degrees, and hold for 5 seconds. Return to the initial position, and repeat this with the other leg. You should perform 3 sets with 10-20 repetitions.

3. Squat Pulse

Your legs should be at hip’s width apart and the toes turned outward. In a standing position, your arms should be in front of your body. Tighten the abs and glutes as you squat downwards, with the back straight and the knees aligned with the toes.

Remain in this position, while you bouncing with the buttock, and you lower and lift it. Repeat 15 times and return to the starting position. You should do 3 sets with 15 repetitions. Use dumbbells to intensify the exercise.

4.Donkey Kicks

You should actually start lying on the stomach, with the knees and hands at shoulder’s and hip’s width apart. Lift the leg towards the ceiling, so it is just above the butt while tightening the abs and glutes.

You should not lift it higher than the torso in order to prevent injury to the spine. Hold a bit in this position and then return the knee towards the floor, but do not allow it to touch the ground.

Repeat 15 times with both legs, divided into 3 sets. In order to intensify the exercise, you should strap on ankle weights.

5.Fire hydrant

You start in the same position as in the previous exercise, but the right leg should be opened towards the side so that your hip is opened and the right thigh is parallel to the floor.

Without touching the ground, you should return the knee to the starting position. Repeat this exercise in 3 sets of 16 repetitions.

How to Properly Plank

The key to getting great results comes down to perfecting the proper planking position. According to an article from Physical Living, this is how to do it: 1. Make sure that your arms are positioned correctly. Elbows should be directly under the shoulders to ensure proper weight distribution.

2. The spine should remain straight. Avoid rounding out your spine and putting unnecessary pressure on your neck and back.
3. Make sure to tighten your core so that it benefits from the exercise.
4. Keep your legs slightly spread. Pay attention to how your hips feel during the exercise. There should be no added pressure to the hip area. Adjust the distance between your feet as needed.
5. Your breathing should be slow and deliberate so that your core is fully engaged and your body is relaxed.

Why Planking?

You may be wondering why the Planking Challenge makes for such a good workout plan. After all, the exercise seems a bit simplistic to be a full-body workout. However, it is just that. Here’s what planking does for your body:
  1. Tones your stomach. As described above, planking involves using your core to stabilize your body and carry out the physical demands to maintain the proper planking position. The abdominal muscles are engaged during this workout. Over time, those muscles tone and tighten to give you a great-looking stomach.
2. Promotes good posture. Because your abs play a huge role in your ability to maintain good posture, planking can also be good for your balance and stability. Over time, you’ll be able to stand up straight and achieve a broader range of movement.
3. Increases flexibility. According to an article published by Mercola.com, your flexibility will improve as you work your back and shoulder muscles in the plank position. The shoulder blades will actually stretch, which promotes a better range of motion.

Who knew such a simple challenge could achieve such great results? Check out the video below for a total breakdown of how to do a proper plank. Share today to challenge your friends.

You can experiment with different angles to see what works out the parts of your chest that feel the weakest. Do these every day for 4 weeks and you will be surprised at the amount of toning you can achieve with this little exercise.

#2 One-Armed Buster

What is The Best Time Of The Day To Exercise?

Morning – Best potential for building muscle because testosterone is critical in protein synthesis and for rebuilding muscle fiber damaged in weight training. There is also greatermental focus, which may allow for greater mind-muscle connection and greater efficiency of muscle work done.

Afternoon – Best potential for breaking plateaus by employing muscle shocking techniques because pain threshold is highest and the limits of the body might be able to be pushed further than usual.

Evening – Best potential for strongest performance. This is the time of day when the body is in peak condition for physical activity.

Besides the purely physical observations about circadian rhythm that have been mentioned, there are other considerations that one might take into account when deciding the best time of day to weight train:

* Morning: Is fat loss or fat storage prevention a goal? Morning exercise may help in reaching this goal partly due to higher than normal testosterone. It also helps that your body has not had much food to process yet, and may turn to fat for energy instead.

Exercise has shown to increase serotonin levels. Low serotonin has been shown to be related to depression. Exercising in the morning could possibly help elevate mood slightly for the rest of the day. It should be noted, however, that significant changes in overall mood can take a long time to occur, and will happen as a result of a general increase in serotonin. By doing a workout in the morning, it will be out of the way, out of mind.

*Afternoon: Good balance between all the issues discussed in both morning and night sections.

* Evening: If working out too late, this can affect you’re body’s natural time of slowing things down for sleep. Working out increases ability to absorb nutrients on a cellular level. If adequate nutritionis not in place after a workout, the body might soon be left hanging for an eight hour fast while you sleep.

Is the gym open late?

The 8 Best Bedtime Snacks For Weight Loss

String Cheese
Sure, it’s processed, but hear us out: One serving of this snack contains filling protein and fat, so you feel satiated—and it only packs about 80 calories. Cheese also packs the amino acid tryptophan, which may help make you drowsy, says Brill.
A Bowl of Cereal
Put down the Count Chocula—all that sugar might leave you too wired to sleep (and also give you a stomach ache). We’re talking about the whole-grain, complex carb kind (think oatmeal or corn or bran flakes) that’s easy to digest and gives you 200 calories or less per bowl, says Brill. Pour in a little milk for extra tryptophan and protein.
Nonfat Greek Yogurt
For about 100 to 150 calories, you get the relaxing powers of tryptophan from the dairy, as well as satisfying protein, says Brill. Plus, yogurt can help calm your stomach, so you’re less likely to wake up with heartburn or indigestion and instead can score a good night’s rest.

Two Slices of White-Meat Turkey
Turkey is loaded with sleep-inducing tryptophan (no wonder you’re so sleepy after those massive holiday dinners, right?) and low-fat, high-quality protein, says Brill. A few slices won’t run you more than 100 calories.
An Apple with a Spoonful of Peanut Butter
Apples have lots of fiber and a satisfying crunch. “The protein in the peanut or almond butter also fills you up without feeling heavy in your stomach,” says Brill.
 Pudding Cup
We’re totally loving this one—the creamy chocolate pudding goes down easy, but it doesn’t contain the fat that can sit in your belly like a rock all night. One single-serve pack racks up about 90 calories.
Baby Carrots
Super-nutritious with lots of crunch, these little orange guys will fill you up long enough so you doze off, says Brill. And all for four fat-free calories per carrot.
A Banana
Not only are bananas loaded with satiating fiber and relaxing tryptophan (for only about 100 calories each), but they’re the perfect late-night nosh if you’ve already cleaned up your kitchen. You won’t leave behind any dishes or utensils to wash!

Checkout If you're Overweight

First Lets Define What Overweight and Obesity Are ?

Overweight and obesity are labels for weight ranges that are greater than what is generally considered healthy for a given height. The terms also identify ranges of weight that have shown could increase the likelihood of certain diseases and other health problems.

The overweight epidemic is estimated to have afflicted some 1.7 billion people world-wide. Approximately 2/3 of the United States population are overweight (BMI =25) and almost half of this group are obese (BMI =30). About 5% of the U.S. population is morbidly obese (BMI =40 or BMI=35 in association with significant comorbidities).1 Among children aged 6 through 19 (1992-2002), 31% were at risk for becoming overweight and 16.0% were overweight.2 There is a rise in the prevalence of obesity as well as obesity related comorbidities that are responsible for more than 2.5 million deaths annually through out the world.1

Now Lets Calculate Weight Range Using Body Mass Index (BMI)

For adults, overweight and obesity ranges are determined by using weight and height to calculate a number called the “body mass index” (BMI). BMI is used because, for most people, it correlates with their amount of body fat.

An adult with a BMI of less than 18.5 falls within the “underweight” range.
An adult with a BMI between 18.5 to 24.9 falls within the “normal” or healthy weight range.
An adult with a BMI between 25.0 to 29.9 falls within the “overweight” range.
An adult with a BMI of 30.0 or higher falls within the “obese” range.

Overweight? – What You Can Do

The reasons for being overweight or obese are multifactorial and may include genetics, environmental influences, behaviour (caloric intake and physical activity) and metabolism.

Nutritional and Behavioural Therapy – Overweight and obesity often result from an energy imbalance which involves eating too many calories and not getting enough physical activity which requires a change to behaviour and nutrition.

Medical or Procedural therapy – if Gastric Bypass has failed you there is a safe and effective incisionless endoscopic suturing procedure that can fix this.
A comprehensive and integrated solution taking this all into account is the best approach.

About Women Health Supplements

Question: I want to get my health back on track. What kind of nutrients would you recommend I should look into in the area of women health supplements?

Answer: Great question! There are plenty of supplements out there that can be of great aid to women’s health. One problem that plagues women, especially later in life, can be the dreaded osteoperosis. Since your body needs a steady supply of calcium, if you do not meet your body’s calcium requirements, it will begin to sap the calcium from your body’s teeth and bones, leaving them brittle and weak.

To prevent this, a calcium supplement can be of great aid. Coral calcium is one product on the market that can help prevent this ailment. Harvested from long-dead sea beds, the calcium found in coral sediments can help to pave the way for clear health.

Antioxidants are also key parts in maintaining the health of both males and females. Helping to stop the damaging effects of free-radicals (highly reactive chemicals that capture electrons and modify chemical structures), antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Vitamin E may reduce the risk of cancer and muscular degeneration. Iron is also a key element that needs to be regularly consumed to help maintain the female body.

The body needs this mineral to produce red blood cells, and an iron shortage can result in anemia, a condition marked by a lack of red blood cells. Many of these simple minerals can help maintain your body’s structure and help lead you to great health. Some supplements even offer combined compounds that help to meet your daily requirements in a few of these categories.

I hope this article has helped you to learn more about your body and the things it needs to be working in its fittest form. Best of luck on your quest for nutrition!

An Exercise Plan To Lose Weight

Do you have an exercise plan to lose weight?

Two excellent choices to consider are the elliptical workout and the treadmill weight loss workout.

Let's compare the two kinds of workouts so you will be able to determine which exercise plan to lose weight works best for you.

An elliptical trainer workout has become very popular and actually has a few advantages over a treadmill.

It is less strenuous to the knees, joints and lower back so it is very suitable for people with injuries.

It also works all the parts of your body continuously giving you a total body workout.  An elliptical trainer workout is great for cardio fitness and you can get a good workout in a short period of time.

A treadmill workout is still a very popular workout today.  Many people buy a treadmill so the whole family can use it.  A treadmill workout is perfect for beginners because the intensity in the workout is adjustable by walking, jogging or running.

Treadmill weight loss can best be achieved by exercising within your target heart range zone.  Here is how to find the right target heart rate for you.

First, you need to find out what your heart rate is while exercising after five minutes.  To test your heart rate place your thumb on the underside of your wrist to locate your pulse.

Count the beats for 15 seconds and multiply that number times four.  That number is your heart rate.

To calculate your ideal target heart rate, subtract your age from 220.  For successful treadmill weight loss exercise within 70% of your target heart range zone.

Both the elliptical trainers and treadmills help you to burn fat and are perfect exercise plans to lose weight.  Exercising not only tones your muscles, but actually gives you more energy for your whole day.

You can purchase treadmills and elliptical workout trainers on the Internet as well as fitness stores. Both machines are very effective for burning fat and losing weight.  Just make sure that you buy quality equipment that will last.

If you are looking to burn body fat and take off weight, these two machines can be a great help for your exercise plan to lose weight.

A Whole Body Approach To Weight Loss

What’s the Secret to losing bodyfat and keeping it off?

Ask 100 different fitness experts this question, and you’ll probably get 80 or more different answers.  That’s one reason why fitness and fat loss gets so darn confusing-everybody seems to have “the answer.”

You’ve got 101 different theories about how to induce fat loss including super-slow training, heart rate training, circuit training, Pilates, yoga principles, high-rep weight training, and aerobics.

When it comes to nutrition, there are even more fad diets than exercise theories.  The Atkins Diet, The South Beach Diet, Eat 4 Your Blood Type, Low Fat, Low Carb, Low Calorie, The Zone…even Dr. Phil has a diet book.

Well, I’m going to simplify things for you. Work the whole body each session!  No tricky split routines, no bodypart training…just training the body the way it was intended to function, as a whole.

Human movement, stabilization, balance and strength are the results of a whole body approach to strength training.  Until recently, the fitness industry had forgotten how to incorporate the entire body in exercise programming.

The human body has over 600 muscles, all intended to work as one complete and complimentary system. Traditional exercise programs have neglected the majority of these muscles by training in a one-dimensional environment. This type of training handicaps the body from performing the way it is designed to function.

Training in a fixed plane environment leads to isolated results, muscle imbalance, and injury.  In contrast, the whole body approach to resistance training prepares participants of any fitness level to achieve great improvements in body composition and function better in daily life as well.  The three-dimensional environment of training movements, not individual muscles, enables the body to become efficient in both static and dynamic environments.  Participants achieve balanced, long lasting, effective results.

This method is fun because it is a whole body approach.  The same movement patterns that we used as children (pushing, pulling, twisting, lunging, squatting, stepping and balance in multiple planes) are the core of your approach to fat loss.  From beginners to the most advanced exercise fanatic, this approach to fat loss and fitness will provide fun and effective workouts and lasting results.

Full body training is an extremely effective way to loose weight as involves dynamic, whole body movement that increase caloric expenditure.  Training movements instead of individual muscles can also help change body composition by increasing muscle mass, increasing growth hormone output, raising metabolism, maximizing caloric output, and ultimately decreasing body fat.

Now, regardless of how great your workout is, food intake is the key factor that will either make you or brake you as far as fat loss goes.  The only way that the human body drops body fat is by being in what is called a calorie deficit.  This brings us back to LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS. Remember, I’ll say it one more time...this law states that if you eat more calories in a day than you burn you will gain fat, if you burn more calories in a day than you eat you will lose fat, and if you eat the same amount of calories in a day as you burn you will remain constant.  This is a law!!!!  It is as true as the law of gravity and it is how the body works.  Knowing this, it is simple.  If you want to lose fat you need to adjust you daily calorie intake so that you are into a calorie deficit.  You need to get your calorie count low enough to begin fat loss, but at the same time keeping it high enough to remain healthy.

The second step to optimizing you food intake is by spreading your food out evenly throughout the day.  Ideally, you want to be on a five meal per day plan.  By spreading your calories evenly through five small meals your metabolism works its best for you.  When you constantly give your body food with small meals your body does not feel the need to store fat.  On the contrary when eating large, infrequent meals your body feels the need to store some food as fat for it is unsure as to when it will be fed again.  Get on a scheduled meal plan that your body will respond to.  Five meals a day, approximately three hours apart works great.  A healthy start point for you protein, carbohydrate, and fat ratio’s is 25% of you food coming from protein, 60% of your food coming from carbohydrate, and 15% of your food intake coming from fats.

Now, I’m going to give you an industry secret.  A lot of personal trainers out there are gonna be upset with me for it is too valuable to give away, but I’m going do it any way.  If you want to lose fat and you are unsure of how many calories you are supposed to eat and are not in a position to hire professional assistance, barring any medical conditions, a simple formula to follow is this.

Take your body weight and add a zero on the end.  Use that as your general guideline, split the number evenly among five meals per day and your body should be in a calorie deficit.  For example if you weigh 180 lbs, add a zero, your now at 1800 calories.  Divide that over five meals per day, your eating 360 calories per meal.  Keeping each meal balanced approximately 60% carbs, 25% proteins, 15% fat, you are eating in a healthy way to lose weight.  It works!!  Note, if you have any medical conditions always consult with your physician first. How quickly will you see results?  Although results will vary with each individual, full body training coupled with a proper nutrition program will help you achieve greater results than most other programs in less time.  The results can come quicker and be longer lasting.

Top 7 Tips For Calorie Burning

 Calorie Burning

These are just a few habits you can embrace to start revving your metabolism right away. You may have heard stories about people who have lost dozens of pounds simply switching to diet soda or walking a few minutes each day. These are all small habits that contribute to a big difference and increase your metabolism over time.  You will make weight loss quicker and easier by increasing your metabolic rate and burning more calories.

1) Move More

Sedentary people burn about one-third less calories per day.  By simply taking every opportunity to move can make quite a dramatic difference to the amount of calories you burn in one day. Small movements will add up over time to lots of calories.  The trick is to keep moving throughout your day. Write the word ‘move’ on post-it notes and put them in places you’ll notice them when you’re sitting still. Then, take every opportunity to move, here’s some ideas for burning extra calories:

  • Tap your feet
  • Swing your legs
  • Stand up and stretch
  • Move your head from side to side
  • Change position
  • Wriggle and fidget
  • Pace up and down
  • Use the restroom upstairs
  • Park in the furthest corner of the parking lot
  • Stand up when you’re on the phone and step from side to side
  • Clench and release your muscles

2) Eat Little and Often

Evidence suggests that eating small meals every 2-4 hours will keep your metabolism burning faster than larger, less frequent meals. When you eat small amounts often your body is constantly working to digest and absorb food which requires energy.

3) Eat Fat

If you want feel good and keep the fat off you need to first put it in.  Fat not only tastes good our bodies need it to work efficiently.  By consuming several servings of ‘healthy’ fats every day you will actually increase your calorie burning potential.  Try incorporating fats like Flaxseed oil, hempseed oil, olive oil, avocados, salmon, albacore tuna, nuts and seeds into your diet daily.

4) Drink Cold Water

Evidence shows that your body might expend more calories trying to raise cold water to the temperature of your body then hot beverages. And overall being well hydrated will help your body’s metabolic processes burn quicker.

5) Exercise With Weights

Training with weights boosts your metabolism in a number of ways. By lifting weights you will build muscle tissue. And muscle tissue is metabolically active, so it requires calories even when at rest and so it helps to increase fat-burning enzymes in your body.

6) Spice up

Eating hot spices might speed up your metabolism.  Just half a teaspoon of cinnamon per day can help boost metabolism and keep blood sugar levels in check. Can’t stand the thought of cinnamon in your morning cup of coffee? Spice up with cayenne, crushed red pepper or wasabi.

7) Eat More Protein

Protein requires a more complex chemical breakdown by your body in order to be digested and used as fuel. For example, 100 calories of protein may take up to 30 calories to process.   Protein also takes longer to digest and helps to stabilize blood sugar for longer periods of time  and this can help you to not overeat later in the day.  Eat a portion of protein at every meal and as part of your snacks and you will increase the total number of calories you burn each day.

Alkalize to Reduce Your Size

Best Stomach exercises

It is a fact that over 75% of people who lose weight put that weight back on within a year and of those who put it back on a further 50% will actually put on more weight than they started with in the first place!

Alkalize

How is that for a scary fact?

What I am about to tell you will help you to reduce your weight and help you to keep it at a level you are happy with. You will notice I have put the word help in bold text, this is because this is just the start to reducing your weight and it is without doubt the most important gift you could give to your body to help that weight reduction.

Do you know what a ph scale is?

A ph scale is a measurement guide to acidity and alkalinity. It is a sliding scale from 1 to 14 where 1 is completely acidic and 14 is completely alkaline. This means that 7 is completely neutral, neither acid nor alkali.

Why is this so important?

Well our bodies are a fine balance between acid and alkali and the optimum level for our bodies to be at is 7.36 which is just slightly alkali. If you are over weight I guarantee that you body is acidic because that is basically what fat is, stored acid that your body has not been able to break down.

When you start to get your body back towards the optimum level of 7.36 your body will automatically react to get rid of some of the waste acid it is currently holding on to. But your body needs help to become more alkaline and to get rid of this waste.

Fortunately there is a product which is a solution to both of these areas and it is called ‘water’ that’s right – water.

I am sure that you have heard people say many times ‘you should drink at least 6-8 glasses of water per day’, do you take any notice?
I am guessing that you are now in one of the 3 following categories:

1. You have heard people say this and you now do drink this amount of water per day.
2. You have heard people say this but you just can’t be bothered because it means you will go to the toilet more often.
3. You have heard people say this and you just don’t believe them.

I am here to tell you that you absolutely must drink at least 2 litres (3 would be better but do not exceed 3) of alkalizing water (bottled mineral water preferably) per day. This water will re-alkalize your body therefore giving your body chance to get rid of the excess acid it has been storing and it will help get rid of this waste through your natural systems (again I am not going to graphic on this).
I guarantee that if you start to drink at least 2 litres of water per day you will start to feel the effects within a fortnight. But before you rush off to get a glass right now…………. No actually go get yourself a nice big glass full I will wait for you…….

Alkalize - Are you back, excellent.

There is something else you can do to help your body’s alkali levels and that is to drink green drinks. You can either get these ready made or you can get powders to mix with your water to produce a green drink.

Green drinks are made from all natural ingredients that are high in alkali levels which is obviously superb for your body. Search the net for green drinks there are numerous ones out there.

I personally drink 2 ½ to 3 litres per day of green drinks and since I started I have found a massive difference to my life.

So there you have it, you now know the greatest gift you can give to your body to help you reduce your weight.

Are You Still Following Your New Years Resolution To Lose Weight?

Resolution To Lose Weight

One of the most common New Year’s Resolutions is “to lose weight, and get in shape”. However within a few weeks an overwhelming majority of people are right back where they started eating foods that aren’t healthy and not exercising. So why do so many people start out with good intentions and fail?

Most people focus on short term goals and instant gratification. They want to lose weight but aren’t committed to making the lifestyle changes necessary to lead a healthier life. Let’s be honest that chocolate covered doughnut with sprinkles certainly tastes better than a bowl of oatmeal, and who wouldn’t want to eat something that tastes better. Truth is unless you are training for an athletic event its ok to have a chocolate doughnut from time to time. The key is not to have a chocolate doughnut every morning. Realize that there are some foods that just aren’t healthy and you should only be eating them on a limited basis and in moderation.

The second part of getting in shape and losing weight is exercise. Again people start out with the best intentions I’m going to run 5 miles every day. However if you haven’t run a mile in more years than you care to admit, this is a recipe for failure. Set moderate and obtainable goals for yourself. First start out with walking one mile. After a few weeks start walking for two miles, then three. Once you can comfortably walk the 5 miles, start walking four and half miles and run for a half mile. Keep up adding to the length you run and subtracting from the length you walk. It may take 6 months or more for you get to that stage, and that’s ok. It’s not important that you succeed quickly, just that you succeed.

One of the biggest reasons people give up resolution to Lose weight is temporary defeat. Maybe they went on a vacation and gained a few pounds, or they had some big projects for work and haven’t exercised for a week or two, and what’s the point in starting back up again. When you start down the road to a healthier lifestyle realize there will be bumps and even a few dead ends on the way. Realize its ok to make a mistake as long as you get back on the right path again, and try not to repeat the same mistakes you did last time.

Alcohol And Weight Loss

Best Stomach exercises

When trying to lose weight, it is highly recommended that you refrain from drinking alcohol. This reasoning is based both in the fact that alcohol has a high concentration of unhealthy sugars and empty calories as well as the knowledge that alcohol generally drives you compromise your habits, which might make you eat the wrong foods if they are available.

Alcohol And Weight Loss

If you do have a weight loss partner and are in a situation involving alcohol together, you two can share the responsibility of helping each other avoid unwanted glasses. Each additional alcoholic beverage boosts the number of calories you consume per day as well as the amount of sugar running through your blood stream.

Many people feel uncomfortable rejecting a drink in a social situation. They do not want to be party poopers by reminding friends of their diet or they do not want to seem to stiff in front of others. If you find yourself in a situation where it is tough to avoid consuming a beverage, then consider ordering a diet coke on ice. A diet coke has no calories or fat grams, but will come in a nice glass that will appear to be an alcoholic beverage.

Also keep in minds that beverages such as beer have yeast, fat and sugar. There is a reason that frequent beer drinkers develop a beer belly – they consume vast amounts of beer but do not work it off right away.

Like fruit, it is also a good idea to consume wine when you are also eating a meal. The meal will help to regulate the spike in your blood sugar level so that your body is not shocked by the addition of new alcohol calories or sugars.

Keep in mind that while alcohol consumption might not be avoidable for you, the munchies and desire to consume high-fat and high-grease foods needs to be controlled. If you do find yourself in a situation where you have consumed too much wine, it is important for you to avoid tacking on additional calories from food. Moderation and education are the two keys to effective weight loss when it comes to wine consumption and the hunger that follows.
