5 Exercises That Will Build Up Your Glutes, Improve Your Posture And Burn Fat

People who lead sedentary lifestyles often have issues with their glutes, as they can become atrophied and sore. These muscles actually play an essential role in optimizing the strength of the legs, stabilize the pelvis, and support the spine.

Therefore, their strengthening will significantly improve posture and boost your body strength.  By strengthening the glutes, you will be able to perform high-intensity activities and exercises, and they will also be extremely helpful for various sports and running.

Moreover, the strengthened glutes will prevent injuries. Not only will your body will be strong, your buttocks will be firm. You can gain all these benefits in only 15 minutes of your time, a few days a week.

The following 5 exercises are the best ones to help you build up the gluteus minimus, gluteus medius, and gluteus maximus.

1.Weighted Bridge

Start in a lying position, with the knees bent, and the feet planted firmly on the floor. The feet should be in a parallel position to the knees, a bit more than a hip’s width.

Then, place a light dumbbell on the hips and raise them off the floor, while tightening the abs, thighs, and glutes. If you are a beginner, try it without the dumbbell at first. Then, lower down to the initial position, while the hips are still a bit above the floor. Repeat this 15 times in 3 sets.

2.Lunges

Start in a standing position, with the legs at hip’s width. Then, step forward with one leg and you should bend the knee at 90 degrees, and hold for 5 seconds. Return to the initial position, and repeat this with the other leg. You should perform 3 sets with 10-20 repetitions.

3. Squat Pulse

Your legs should be at hip’s width apart and the toes turned outward. In a standing position, your arms should be in front of your body. Tighten the abs and glutes as you squat downwards, with the back straight and the knees aligned with the toes.

Remain in this position, while you bouncing with the buttock, and you lower and lift it. Repeat 15 times and return to the starting position. You should do 3 sets with 15 repetitions. Use dumbbells to intensify the exercise.

4.Donkey Kicks

You should actually start lying on the stomach, with the knees and hands at shoulder’s and hip’s width apart. Lift the leg towards the ceiling, so it is just above the butt while tightening the abs and glutes.

You should not lift it higher than the torso in order to prevent injury to the spine. Hold a bit in this position and then return the knee towards the floor, but do not allow it to touch the ground.

Repeat 15 times with both legs, divided into 3 sets. In order to intensify the exercise, you should strap on ankle weights.

5.Fire hydrant

You start in the same position as in the previous exercise, but the right leg should be opened towards the side so that your hip is opened and the right thigh is parallel to the floor.

Without touching the ground, you should return the knee to the starting position. Repeat this exercise in 3 sets of 16 repetitions.

How Victoria Lost 75 Kilos, No “Secrets” to Weight Loss

Victoria Lost 75 Kilos

A trip to Disney World 10 years ago unexpectedly changed life of this 32 year old administrative assistant Victoria Wagar. During that trip, she had been ordered off a roller coaster at the famed theme park when the safety bar wouldn’t close. She was simply too fat. But, when she recently planned another visit to the amusement park, this time with her 4 year old daughter, there was no way she wanted that to happen again.

With that trip to Disney World on the calendar, she decided it was finally time to make a change. For someone who had been overweight for as long as she could remember, shrinking her 350 pound frame wasn’t a simple suggestion.

“There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think about the fact that I was overweight,” she remembers. “I always compare it to any addiction: I couldn’t stop eating and always made the choice to eat the wrong things, even though I knew it was wrong.”

Despite the odds, Victoria has managed to lose a whopping around 75 kilos in a little less than a year and a half. This wasn’t the result of a trendy diet, an expensive gym membership or even surgery. victoria's key to weight loss success was a direct result of educating herself about healthy habits and tracking every food she ate and step she took. Here’s how she did it:

1.  Good Decisions

After signing up for The 3 week diet system in March 2014, Victoria dove headfirst into learning how to lead a healthier life. “I used the System, read the blogs and took tips from those,” she says. “I gradually added more fresh fruits and vegetables, but it didn’t happen overnight. I found that one good decision leads to another.”

2. Initiate a Logging Streak

Previously, Victoria never had any idea of how much and what kinds of foods she should be eating, much less a daily calorie goal. Over time, she was able to determine what made sense for her as an individual. In order to make sure she was hitting her goals, she found that logging her meals was imperative.

“I’ve logged in for more than 500 days in a row now,” she says. “When I started losing weight, I felt so good, so that was a major incentive.”

Even in those early days before she made any big changes to her diet, she said that logging came in handy. “The first couple of times I put food in the log, I couldn’t believe the calories,” she explains. “Even if you’re not going to change anything, get in there and log what you’re eating and it’ll really make you think. Sometimes I even use it as a research tool by putting something in to see how many calories it has before I eat it.”

victoria discovered that logging exercise was equally motivating. While she could initially walk around her neighborhood only one block at a time, she has progressively been able to add time to her walks as the weight came off.

“Holding yourself accountable no matter what is key,” she says. “I really recommend tracking your steps so you can see how much you’ve moved. Now my day isn’t the same if I don’t work out.”

3. Prioritize Caring for Yourself

Along with increased motivation came self-control for Wagar. “I had to tell myself that if I can get up every day and brush my teeth, I can do this: I’m worth it. I’m going to choose to take care of myself,” she says.

She found greater self-control by planning ahead. She now goes to the supermarket with a list for the week’s groceries so she’s not caught in a moment of hunger without healthy options. On Sunday nights, she has fruits and vegetables cut and ready to eat, dinner in the Crock-Pot and lunches packed for the week.

To be sure, her newfound healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean that she never eats the foods that she once loved. “I will have a burger at a cookout, for instance, but I will also bring a caprese salad and load up my plate with that,” she says. “Even if you do have a bad day, you still have to hold yourself accountable; log it, and move on.”

As someone who has waged a lifelong battle with weight issues, Wagar hopes that her story can serve as inspiration to others. “People always ask, ‘What’s your secret?’ But it’s not a secret. It’s diet, exercise with this system,” she says. “It has really changed everything—every relationship, my job. I’m just so happy.”

Everyone knows exercise plays an important role in our general health, but whether it's a lack of motivation, the need to travel to the gym, the cost of equipment, or simply know how, these supposed obstacles often stand in our way. all you need is yourself. Five Do's and Don’ts for Weight Loss Motivation

many of fat people shame themselves, and talk to themselves silently in ways that they’re often too embarrassed to share with their friends out loud. If you find yourself doing this, I hope you can stop, because in my 15+ years of helping clients lose weight, I’ve seen this way only lead to depression, and abandonment of health and weight loss goals.

If you really want to motivate yourself to slim down and healthy up, especially in ways that will last, consider these five Do’s and Don’ts.

Don’t: Beat Yourself Up

In my experience, one of the main triggers of throwing in the towel is negative self-talk. Coming down hard on yourself for small indiscretions, like sneaking an extra square of dark chocolate, or taking a bite off your partner’s plate, can have damaging consequences, including emotional eating, or engaging in risky purging behaviors (e.g. compensating by undereating, overexercising, taking laxatives or diet pills, vomiting…). One exercise I often carry out with my clients is to compare how they talk to themselves to what they would say to their best friend if he or she were in the same circumstances.

Do: Celebrate Every Success

Most of my clients want to reward themselves when they hit their weight goal, perhaps with new clothes, a trip, or a spa service. But I encourage them not to wait. When you’re working on changing your lifestyle, there are numerous victories along the way, and each one should be honored. One client recently told me that it dawned on her that she automatically reaches for water over diet soda, and no longer misses her former daily fix—that’s a huge win! Another shared that her kids are now asking for fruits and veggies. A third remarked that everyone’s been commenting on how radiant her skin looks.

Don’t: Focus Solely on Your Weight

One of the reasons the “do” above is so important is that it creates a shift in perspective. When I’ve worked with clients who remain laser focused on weight, they’re often willing to compromise health for the sake of weight loss. For example, I’ve had really smart clients tell me they took up smoking, fully knowing the risks, as a means of losing weight. As a health professional that makes me very sad, and it’s one of the reasons why I talk to clients about things like mood, sleep quality, energy, immunity, digestive health, strength, endurance, and help them monitor health indicators like blood pressure, cholesterol, and liver values. I generally find that over time, all of these factors that contribute to wellness, become much stronger motivators than weight or size, because they so strongly influence day to day quality of life. When this happens, you may even decide to banish the scale altogether, which is incredibly freeing, because you’ll have far better—and less fickle—ways of gauging your progress.

Do: Find Positive Support

I hate to say it, but most of my clients have at least one person in their lives who either consciously or unconsciously sabotages their healthy efforts. It may be a significant other who doesn’t want to lose his or her partner in crime, so in turn brings home a box of donuts or a piping hot pizza. Sometimes it’s a competitive co-worker who becomes critical, or a family member who says things like, “You don’t need to lose weight.” A lack of support, even from those you’re close to, is a common conundrum for most people who’ve adopted healthier habits.

Don’t: Set Unrealistic Expectations

One of the biggest pitfalls I see is setting unrealistic expectations, either results-wise (e.g. I’m going to lose 30 pounds in 30 days), or behavior wise, such as vowing to work out seven days a week, or cut out all carbs. On the flip side, the lasting transformations I see—that is, people who lose weight healthfully and keep it off for good—come from focusing on progress and consistency, not strictness or perfection. You know yourself better than anyone else. If you can’t realistically see yourself maintaining a goal you’ve set for yourself one, three, or six months from now, modify it. When I ask my clients about their weight history, most tell me they’ve lost and gained back the same 20 or so pounds over and over again. And what finally allows them to shed it for good is ditching any approach they know that can’t stick with!

How Can You Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Best Stomach exercises

On average, a woman gains between 25 and 35 pounds during her pregnancy. During and labor and immediately after delivery a new mother might shed 10 to 15 pounds of that. This leaves from 10 to 25 additional pounds of weight left on the new mom’s “new” body. It can be a source of great shock, disappointment, frustration, and despair to a woman to discover that after giving birth she can no longer fit into the clothes she wore prior to the pregnancy.

Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Lose weight after pregnancy is not a fool’s errand, but neither is it an easy errand; it requires patience, a realistic attitude, a positive outlook, and when it comes down to it – persistence and dedication. A realistic outlook by any means is to expect to lose no more than 1 or 2 pounds per week. For an extra 10 to 25 pounds, then, that can take anywhere from 2 months to 2 years.

There’s no quick fix to losing weight after pregnancy – not a sustainable and lasting one, at least. So the best way to succeed is to start out with realistic expectations for the time frame in which to achieve your results and with the commitment to seeing the process through, however long it may take.

Now that you have the right mental attitude, let’s go over a few suggestions for ways to get rid of that unwanted weight postpartum:

Don’t start right away:

Contrary to the “do it now” mentality you’re normally advised to live by, when you’ve just given birth, your body needs time to adjust to the changes it’s undergone over the preceding 9 months. Remember, you are not “returning” to the state you were in before your pregnancy; you’re in a new state you’ve never been in before. You are in the body of a new mother, and this body needs time to get used to this new way of being. Avoid weight-loss dieting of any sort for a good three months after delivering. Don’t worry about exercise so much as just being sure you remain active and moving around. You can use your menstrual cycle as an indicator of when your body is ready to take on a more intentional program of diet and exercise; when it normalizes, you’re ready to go.

Start slow:

Your body is still healing from the pregnancy, and diving headlong into a heavy-duty exercise regimen may be too much of a shock to your newly-adjusting system to do you any good at all. Walking around the block or the park with your baby is an excellent way to begin, and it primes your body exquisitely for taking on more extensive and intensive exercise at a later date.

Set yourself up for success:

That means keep your kitchen stocked with fresh and healthy foods, particularly snacks, so when you feel the urge to eat something, you have only suitable options around. Several smaller meals throughout the day will serve your ends far better than just 2 or 3 large meals. And don’t try and starve yourself. You’ll do no good to your new baby that way, and you’ll invariably find yourself binging sometime later on to compensate.

Have patience with yourself.

The period of time following pregnancy is already exhausting and exasperating enough, on so many levels. Don’t burden yourself further with guilt, shame, and unrealistic expectations.

Shedding excess weight after pregnancy is not an easy task, but it can be done. Every body is different. Rather than comparing your rate of postpartum weight loss to that of any other new mother, focus on sticking to the slow and steady path to the long-lasting results you crave: a body that glows more than it ever did during or before you got pregnant.
